about us
naples quilters guild
The Naples Quilters Guild was organized in 1983.  Our purpose is to promote the art of quilting in the community and among our members.

How can I join the Naples Quilters Guild?
Attend a meeting.  Our membership chairman will be there to help you join the Guild. Your paid membership entitles you to many benefits, including our monthly newsletter and the right to join the Internet mail list that allows us to keep in touch throughout the year, even when many of our members are summering up north.  See the Contact Us page for information about how to sign up for these benefits.  Our monthly meetings are held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 777 Mooringline Drive in Naples.

Where can I find a copy of the Guild's By Laws and Standing Rules?
You can read them right here on our website by clicking on the underlined links in the question above.

What are the Guild's charitable activities?
We sponsor many enjoyable activities that benefit our selected charities.  Members are strongly encouraged to participate in these projects.

Shelter Quilt Project: Each member is encouraged to make and donate one child-size quilt each year.  These quilts are given to the children who pass through the Collier County Shelter for Abused Women and are much appreciated symbols of care.

Raffle Quilt: Each year the Guild chooses a pattern for a quilt that will be raffled at the Annual Quilt Show.  Members make the blocks, put them together and take turns quilting until the quilt is finished.  A portion of the proceeds benefits the Shelter for Abused Women.

Miniature Quilt Project: Each Guild member is encouraged to make a miniature quilt each year.  Minis are presented at our January meeting where members vote for their favorites.   The minis are then donated to our Annual Auction.  A portion of the proceeds from this auction benefits Breast Cancer Awareness.

What other activities does the Guild sponsor?
In addition to our annual show and the quilts mentioned previously, we offer the following activities that members enjoy throughout the year.

Bees: Many of our members have formed small special interest groups, or "bees" that meet whenever their members decide.  The guild will try to help you find or start a bee that meets your needs.

Challenge Quilts:  Each year a challenge is held.  The chair selects the theme.  Fabric is chosen, packaged and distributed along with rules.  The quilts are displayed at the January meeting and voted upon for the Quilter's Choice Award.   They are also displayed at the Annual Quilt Show.

Gathering Stitches:  On the last saturday of most months, we meet at Golden Gate Community Center, 4701 Golden Gate Parkway, for several hours of fun and fellowship.  Member led workshops, instruction for new quilters, quilt basting using the big tables available there, and the opportunity to spend some time with our fellow quilters make this a popular activity.

Library: The guild owns an impressive collection of books related to quilting.  Members may borrow books for a month at a time, saving money and increasing their knowledge of quilting at the same time.

Monthly Projects:  Each year guild members may select from a variety of projects that they enjoy doing each month.  These might include Block of the Month, Fabric Exchages, and Secret Pal.  New ideas are always welcome!

Travel: Several field trips are scheduled yearly.  Trips may be to great out-of-town shops, quilt shows or related events.

More...: Our guild sponsors other activities to help us educate our members and the public, contribute to the public good, and encourage the growth and understanding for quilting in a setting of fun and fellowship.  We're especially happy when our members contribute new ideas.  Please contact any officer with your suggestions.
