Our annual quilt show is an opportunity for members to exhibit their quilts. It is a judged event, giving those entering an opportunity to receive feedback on the quality of their work. The judge's comments are confidential, which makes this a positive learning experience. All members are encouraged to participate by entering quilts and working during the show. In addition, we have many "extras" to offer. For a sampling, see below.
...and there's more...
Boutique! Auction! Appraisals! Demos! Vendors!
Our boutique, the charitable auction of member-made small quilts, new and antique quilt appraisal, demonstrations, and, of course, SHOPPING in the Merchant's Mall are features that keep people coming back to our show year after year. Please plan to join us!
Quilt Sleeve Instructions
A larger opening is better than an opening which is too small for your rod!
Cut a strip of fabric 8 ½” x the width of your quilt.
Hem the short sides of your fabric.
Fold your hemmed fabric LEFT sides together (Right sides OUT).
Stitch along the length of your fabric creating a long tube. This is what we call a 4” sleeve because the opening is 4” high.
Lay your sleeve on your quilt so that the top of your sleeve touches the bottom of your binding.
“Hide” your long seam so it does not show.
Begin stitching your sleeve on the bottom edge.
Before you stitch the top of the sleeve fold the entire top edge of the sleeve down about 1” (one inch).
Stitch your sleeve to your quilt along this new fold, catching only one layer of sleeve fabric.
You are doing this so your quilt hangs well on any rod, no matter how fat the rod is.
